Washington Redskins backup quarterback Colt Brennan has apparently been having an e-mail and text messaging relationship with Jessica Simpson and the two reportedly plan to hook up in New York City in a few weeks.

Simpson obviously has a ‘thang’ for QB’s, and is still getting over being dumped unceremoniously by Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo on the eve of her 29th birthday.

Brennan sent the singer a Redskins jersey and tickets to the first regular season game, a contest with the New York Giants on September 13 at Giants Stadium.  It seems unlikely Brennan will see any time on the field.  As the backup QB behind starter Jason Campbell, he is in year two of a four year contract worth $1.8 million–chump change by Romo standards.

The 25-year-old was known as the Honolulu hot shot when he played college ball at the University of Hawaii and was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2007.  Could he be the guy who will step up and mend the broken heart of Jessica Simpson?  Only time will tell.

Recent revelations indicate that the reason Romo ended things with Simpson was because she didn’t hold her liquor well and would get “drunk and obnoxious” and “out of control”, embarrassing him and herself in the process.
