Mystery Creature Found in Panama (PHOTOS)

mystery creature found in panama

A hairless mystery creature, found and beaten to death by a group of teenagers in Panama, is drawing comparisons to the Montauk monster, which washed up on a Long Island, New York, beach last year.

The four teens, ages 14 to 16, claim they were playing near a cave at Jet Blue Hill in Cerro Azul on Saturday, when the terrifying creature crawled out and came towards them. Fearing for their safety, they attacked the beast, beating it to death with sticks, and throwing the lifeless body into a pool of water.

They later returned to take pictures of the mystery creature’s body, which were then posted on the website of Central America’s Telemetro television station.

A hooked claw can be seen in one of the photos, suggesting it may be a sloth that lost its hair. Others speculate it was a creature from another planet. I suggest that like the Bigfoot found last year, it is just another hoax.

UPDATE:  Apparently I was wrong to assume this is a hoax.  Zoologists in Panama are trying to identify the creature, so I guess that means they have the body.  More on this story in CNN video below.

  1. I think it is a large turtle decomposed with out its shell.

  2. CNN will run just about anything… As they did with the Coast Guard drill during Obama’s motorcade… I would hold judgement until more sources are found…

  3. Why is CNN being so gullible! You can’t believe all the bull s*** that gets posted on the internet. It looks to me like the body of a sloth. Thats the end of that!

  4. Stupid kids killed Ja Ja binx.

  5. really did these kids need to beat this animal to death? they could have just left it alone. it looks rather harmless. thats really sad.

  6. and also why do we need to kill anything that is different? imagine if the kids didn’t kill it and zoologists rescued it. it would have made for a much more compelling study of life. if indeed it is not a hoax.

  7. HEY Rand_daddy FOX NEWS Ran it too I guess they are both equally ridiculous.

  8. They’ve killed the Jackovasaur! BOOOOOOOO-WUP!

  9. i think it looks like a sloth also, with all the technilogical resources we have today, if it was anything but a hoax it would be sussed by now. typical fifteen-minutes-of-fame-stint?

  10. Did they need to kill it? Looks pretty harmless to me. I do not think it would attack 4 young men. They killed it just to kill it, pretty sad to say the least.

The article states “DNA” tests so there is a body? I’m interested to say the least.

  11. I would not say it was a sloth, sloths arms are really long. Maybe he wanted to phone home lol. Turtle could be a new evolved mamal since we have had a temperature change and animals are evolving. Squids are dieng we might be lowered on the evolution food chain. Funny

  12. i think it is a blank brained alien that messed with the worng kids with sling shots
    omfg holy shit

  13. We don’t know what it is. 70% of the earth is covered in water, and we’re finding new species every time we look. Whatever this is, you know the American/Panama government are keeping it under wraps to stop people from dropping a bollock and freaking out.

Next time I go to the beach, I’m taking a set of sedatives and a large net. You never know…

  14. the creature was in panama city florida not in south america no sloths are not found in the wild in florida

  15. I just wanted to thank you very much for this indepth article. I have already bookmarked your site, when I have more free time I am going to have to do some further reading. Well back to my dreaming of Panama or back to the books – I wonder which one is going to win out. :)
