Popular Boston television anchors Bianca de la Garza and her husband David Wade, who appear on competing networks, have reportedly split. According to their publicist Mendes J. Napoli, the couple has decided to end their 12-year marriage.
The agent gave the following statement, "This is a very difficult time for both of them. Their focus remains today, and in the future, on raising their daughter. I hope you will understand how difficult this time is and respect their need for privacy."
The couple attended Emerson College and married in 1997 when they were both reporters in Albany, N.Y. Their daughter Danica was born in 2006. They were employed by FOX 25 at WFXT and co-anchored a show until 2007 when Wade landed a morning newscast slot on Channel 4 WBZ. Not long afterward Bianca became a competing morning anchor on rival Channel 5 WCVB with her EyeOpener segment.
Many now wonder if the on-air rivalry spilled over into their marriage. According to sources who know both anchors, things have been strained for some time. Wade quit wearing his wedding ring some months back and the couple's home in Milton has been on the market for awhile.
