Jessica Simpson has been distraught after a coyote dragged her little Malitpoo pooch Daisy away several weeks ago. At the 25 Most Stylish New Yorkers bash on September 15, a reporter asked dog lover Martha Stewart to weigh in on the incident and her response seemed particularly unsympathetic.

The always candid domestic diva called the whole episode “pretty sad” and opined, “She should have watched it more closely, though. She should have been more careful.” She followed that by dismissing the notion that Simpson was continuing to hold out hope that the dog might still be alive. She stated that Jessica should move on and “get another dog.”

Martha’s beloved chow puppy Ghenghis Khan died in an explosion in March—so presumably she should have been able to relate to what Simpson was going through. Stewart had a chance to meet Simpson’s dog Daisy when the singer was a guest on her show earlier this year.

Apparently Martha has decided to revisit the subject regarding Jessica’s dog dilemma. On a recent segment of The Martha Stewart Show, she offered, “I said that she should have been watching her dog more closely, but I feel very, very sorry for anybody that loses a pet. Jessica, I hope you find your pet, but if you don’t, I’m really sorry that you lost one.”
