Hugh Jackman Cell Phone Rant (VIDEO)

Hugh Jackman broke character during a performance of the Broadway play “A Steady Rain” to chastise an audience member who’s cell phone began ringing in the middle of a scene with Daniel Craig.
Another audience member captured the tirade on video. “You want to get that?” Jackman asks when the phone rings. “Come on, just turn it off,” he demands as the ringing goes on while he paces the stage of the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, waiting for it to stop.

If Hugh Jackman was a woman, this will be the defining moment of her career— she’d be criticized for invading other peoples’ business and will be in the tabloids for weeks to come. This news story, on the other hand, probobly will be forgotten tomorrow.
He didn’t “break character” he did all of his talking as Denny. There are many accounts from people who were there.
He was right to wait till the ringing stopped since it was an important, extremely emotional scene and a lot of people paid good money to see & hear it the way it was meant to be.
Maybe you should post something about the lack of theater manners the moron with the cell phone exhibited.
Of course, there’s a wee bit of irony tucked in there seeing as the video was captured using someone else’s cell phone that was on during the play.
I think you guys missed the point; I was there. Hugh Jackman was actually staying in character as Denny with his volatile and gruff exterior.
Sorry, Ken, I hate to disagree with you, I don’t think it matters whether or not it is a male or female actor, what matters is the audience’s perception. If the actor has a great reputation as does Mr. Jackman and Mr. Craig, then no harm no foul, however, put someone else, say Christian Bale in the same situation, I doubt it would be easily forgotten. What I can’t believe is that the person didn’t grab the phone immediately and turn it off. Had I been sitting next to him, I probably would have punched him.
Both should have done a little improv, using previous characters. I personally would have told the cell phone intruder to”shove it in your arsche”.
