Filippa Hamilton, the model who made headlines for a controversial Ralph Lauren ad in which her body is severely distorted into an emaciated bobble head, has been fired from the company for being  “too fat.”

Filippa, who is 5′10″, 120 pounds, and a size 4, has modeled for Ralph Lauren for eight years.

A statement issued by the company says the 23-year-old was dismissed for “an inability to meet the obligations of her contract.”  They also addressed the controversial Photoshopped image, saying the picture was “mistakenly released and used in a department store in Japan and was not the approved image which ran in the U.S. We take full responsibility. This error has absolutely no connection to our relationship with Filippa Hamilton.”

Hamilton is concerned about the impact of the image on the public. “I think they owe American women an apology, a big apology,” she said. “I’m very proud of what I look like, and I think a role model should look healthy.”

Filippa discussed being fired on the Today Show this moning.  View video and more photos below:

  1. Are they kidding? This Woman is drop dead gorgeous and the perfect size. So she’s supposed to look like the photo shopped picture they posted “in error” according to Ralph Lauren? How could that have possibly been in her contract?

Ridiculous all around. I hope this doesn’t send her into some type of eating disorder.
