UConn Huskies football player Jasper Howard has died after an on-campus stabbing just hours after the team’s victory over Louisville.

Howard, 20, was airlifted to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, after being stabbed during a fight early Sunday morning.

The stabbing allegedly took place outside the student union after a University-sponsored dance.

Howard, a junior and starting cornerback, was credited with 11 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in Saturday’s game against Louisville.  He led the Big East in punt returns last season.

The suspect in the stabbing is still at large.
