Police Officer Kimberly Munley hailed as hero Twitter pic

Texas police officer Kimberly Munley is being hailed as a hero for stopping a shooting spree at Fort Hood on Thursday afternoon.  She stopped a massacre, in progress, when she shot army psychiatrist Major Nidal Hasan.

Police sergeant Munley, an officer for the Killeen Police Department, hit Hasan four times and took a bullet in the gunfire exchange, which passed through both of her legs.  She is listed in stable condition in a local community hospital.  During a press briefing, Colonel John Rossi said, “Her efforts were superb.”

Her Twitter page shows a recent photo of herself taken with country singer Dierks Bentley.  The occasion was Freedom Fest, held on July 4 at Fort Hood.  Her bio on the social networking website states, “I live a good life…a hard one, but I go to sleep peacefully @ night knowing that I may have made a difference in someone’s life.”
