Adam Lambert AMA Performance VIDEO

Adam Lambert wrapped up the 2009 American Music Awards with a racy rendition of his new single, the title track from For Your Entertainment. His steamy choreography, heavily laced with sexual overtones, will likely be the hottest topic of the day.
He kissed a male dancer, and engaged in simulated gratification moves with both male and female performers. After the performance he seemed offended by suggestions that the act was too risque and vigorously defended his moves.
Lambert told Rolling Stone, “It’s a shame because I think that there’s a double standard going on in the entertainment community right now. Female performers have been doing this for years — pushing the envelope about sexuality — and the minute a man does it, everybody freaks out. It’s time to take risks, be a little more brave, time to open people’s eyes and if it offends them, then maybe I’m not for them.”
According to Lambert, there were several unscripted and spontaneous moments during the performance, including a misstep that caused him to fall to the floor.
Check out the performance on the uncensored video below and do let us know – was it too racy for general public consumption or brilliant, edgy and entertaining.

Nowhere near as “sexual” as I thought it would be based on the write-up. I have to agree that a double standard does exist.
Okay now..let’s settle down and think this thing through.
I am a huge fan and saw Adam in concert three times this summer. I ordered the CD for holiday gifts for everyone I know. I, too, like millions stayed with the AMA’s till the very end for one reason..Adam Lambert. Now, I’ve reviewed the number nine or ten times and I must admit I have calmed down..Yes, it was very shocking and a few of the gestures, I could have lived without..but, Adam couldn’t. He is the entertainer, not me. That said, I have to ask all of those who were shocked…Were you expecting Mad World??? Of course not. This was not going to be a calm and controlled Adam…We all know that he can sing anything brilliantly. This was Adam’s statement to the world..Clearly the producers had seen rehearsals…One last word of advice for Adam…Do your thing..but remember, those of us who love the soft and tender side..whose arms rose with goosebumps and want to continue doing so.
OK, I get it. He was successful in creating BUZZ for himself on the AMAs. I get it. He is Gay and Proud. I am one of the many Americans that heard about the incident and just had to look. I was actually thinking I might enjoy it…I was hoping anyway. Truth is, the song was weak, and the performance seemed like it was all just one big publicity stunt designed to get people gasping. Too bad the song really wasn’t any good and his vocals had me cringing. As far as the performance goes…yeah…it was a feast for the eyes and it was a bit racy, but it would have been more effective if his missed notes didn’t have me covering my ears. The guy on guy kiss seemed really contrived to mimic (poorly) Britney and Madonna’s kiss.
Not racy, not brilliant and certainly not entertaining. He can’t sing. I couldn’t care less who he kisses or what acts he recreates on stage – I’d be impressed if he could sing. And, honestly, he didn’t do anything that hadn’t been done before.
Oh please. Adam did just what I thought he was going to do, and it was BRILLIANT. I’ve followed him since his “Wicked” and “Zodiac Show” days and I know the way he likes to entertain. Sorry to all you Idol folks who thought that he was going to sit out there in a chair in the middle of the stage and croon “Mad World” again. Congrats to you Adam, for not compromising and especially for not letting anyone tell you who you should or shouldn’t be, or how you should do your thing! And for those complaining about his vocals? You try dancing and running around a complicated set while singing live in a venue that has crap acoustics to begin with, and we’ll see how perfect pitch YOU sound.
I think it was too racy for tv. children who watch american idol ( a family show) were probably watching the AMAs, and if i was a parent, I would not want my child to see anyone kissing or to see sexual gestures like that. I dont care if the people kissing or doing the gestures are gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual or whatever, i wouldnt want my children to see that. Adam needs to realise that he is/was an icon for children and teens, not only adults.
I loved it. This is the first time I’ve seen him perform and I think it was amazing. If you don’t want your kids to see those types of thing, first, take them out of public school, and second, don’t let them watch cable TV. Not only late night, but ever. Welcome to the 21st century..get over it. This was genius.
I fell asleep during the last half hour of the show. I tried for days to find the performance online. Dick Clark brought the rights. So I finally found it , I was not shocked. Either I miss something, or saw an edited version?
I think that is was great. I am gay and yes it did take me a minute to get used to the idea of having sexual acts performed on stage. But lets get real here… He is right, Female performers have been doing this for years and there is a double standard in the business at this point and I applaud him for breaking that barrier and wish that more entertainers would do it as well. If more entertainers do it then these homophobs can kiss modern day television censorship goodbye. Congrats to Adam~ Keep doing what you do best.
I have to say I agree with Ron…
It would have been absolutely brilliant if the song had sounded a little better……..
Lets just talk about the fact that he sounds horrible… and if he really kisses like that…. eww gross
He’s a rock-star acting like a rock star and he just happens to be gay…so when he kisses boys he’s just doing what he’s supposed to be doing. Had this happened on MTV it wouldn’t be news at all. And frankly, the performance really isn’t any racier than anything that Prince, Madonna, Britney or any of the 80’s hair-bands haven’t already done. (The set actually reminded me of Paula Abdul’s Cold Hearted Snake.) I guess it would be one thing if he had been presenting himself all this time as some sort of squeaky clean mousketeer but he hasn’t. American Idol unfortunately to many people seems to mean American (suburban) Idol
I find nothing wrong with this performance. It’s a good thing he’s comfortable with his sexual orientation. The people who say this is disgusting are idiots. Notice they took out the word ‘pleasure’ as if it was a cuss word, and while he was simulating oral sex, they took those lyrics out too. They are just being idiots. -_- I enjoyed his performance! Look at the “FAIL” thing at the end and the ‘ewwww’. I don’t agree with those.
“I have a feeling he designed those costumes himself.”
So what if he did? It was a GOOD performance!
ok so it took me a while to find the video because i missed it. i think adam lambert is phenominal and kudos! if you don’t want your children watching it, put them to bed or change the channel. you think they see anything different on tv when you’re not looking? there are hanes commercials racier than this video. it’s a video, and it’s no racier than some of the acts on so you think you can dance…..HELLO! have you seen some of those lately??? they can get you a little flustered
I was in the crowd of people who were watching the show right in front of them and when he threw the guy in his (you know what) everyone gasped cause they were totally suprised that he would do such a thing, knowing that little kids were watching this and i just think that is vey innapropriet! Like im totally ok that is he gay , but this was just a little too much, cause i was talking to some people and they were saying that they had to turn their TV’s off like in the first 30 seconds of the performance cause they had like 9,10,11,12 , etc. old kids ! I just think he should have thought this through a little bit, and then maybe realized what a HUGE mistake it was. I really am a Adam Lamber fan, but come on…
I think it was a great performance and i finally found the video i did watch it months ago live but really needed to watch it again to see if it was inappropriate. i dont believe it was all that bad, that is what the song is about and if you dont like it turn the channel no one is making you watch it. I was shocked when he crapped the dude and put his face in his crotch but than i was like oh well its just a performance alot of other artists perform the same way but it usually a chic and a guy so whats so bad with a guy and a guy. Not to be rude too some of the parents out there but what do you think you kids see on tv some of it is probably worse. i think if i had kids i probably wouldnt let them watch if they were younger than a certain age. But anyways i think he did an excellent job for his first performance and i feel bad that a bunch of people cancelled his apperances i think that is stupid. Good Luck Adam!!! I cant wait to see more perfomances from you!!!! =)
