During a Thanksgiving night contest between the Broncos and the New York Giants, Denver head coach Josh McDaniels spewed a sideline tirade that featured the “F” bomb. The colorful rant got past the NFL Network beeper brigade and got air time as a replay.

The episode came early in the first quarter, when the Broncos were forced to settle for a field goal after three penalties. The network showed the film clip following a commercial break, then immediately apologized on the air.

NFL Network executive producer Eric Weinberger later characterized the situation as a “terrible mistake.” He went on to lament, “It was on delay. We wish we would have caught it and bleeped it. We apologize for ever airing anything like that, absolutely, especially on Thanksgiving.”

McDaniel had an interesting spin when asked about it after his team’s 26-6 win. He said, “It’s the NFL Network. It doesn’t surprise me.”
