Susan Sarandon, 63, and Tim Robbins, 51, have parted.  The couple, who never married but have been together for over two decades, split six months ago according to publicist Teal Cannaday.

Cannaday said, “Actress Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins have announced that they separated over the summer.  No further comments will be made.”

Sarandon is promoting her latest movie “The Lovely Bones”, and was a guest on The David Letterman Show last night, where she showed off her tattoos, which feature the initials of her children – see photos below.  She also appeared on The View on Tuesday, where she dodged a question about Tim Robbins by changing the subject – see video below.  That exchange likely forced the issue, and the subsequent announcement.

Robbins and Sarandon met on the set of “Bull Durham”.  They have two sons: Miles, 17, and Jack, 20.  Susan also has a daughter Eva Amurri, 24, fathered by director Franco Amurri.  Eva, who followed in her mother’s footsteps as an actress, is currently on the Showtime series “Californication” and appeared in a recent episode of “How I Met Your Mother”.
