The L.A. County Coroner has determined that Brittany Murphy‘s cause of death was “community acquired pneumonia, iron deficiency anemia, and multiple drug intoxication.”

Murphy was found in full cardiac arrest in the bathroom of her home on December 20, 2009, and was later pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at the age of 32.

Sources tell TMZ that L.A. County Coroner officials believe Murphy’s death was preventable. The primary causes of her death were pneumonia and severe anemia, with the drugs pushing her “over the line.”

Drugs in her system included both prescription and over-the-counter drugs, including medicine for cramps and cough syrup.

The Coroner’s Office has questioned Murphy’s husband, Simon Monjak, and her mother, Sharon Murphy, about why there is no record of Brittany having seen a doctor in the months before her death, even though the actress had several medical conditions and had been experiencing severe abdominal pains in the days leading up to her death.

The L.A. coroner also ruled today on the cause of death for Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson. See those findings here.
