Former KC and the Sunshine Band founding member Richard Finch was arrested in Newark, Ohio on Wednesday after a 17-year-old boy came forward to police with sexual allegations against the 56-year-old former singer and song arranger.
Finsh was arrested after confessing that he had been engaged in sexual contact with the young man in question, and also admitted to other encounters with boys age 13-17 while mentoring them in music.
He remains in the Licking County jail, with bond set at $250,000. The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are in the process of conducting other interviews in order to determine whether additional charges will be forthcoming.
The seven-time Grammy winner, who played bass and drums in his active band years, has lived in Newark for the past four years. He produces new artists at his studio and is in the process of launching his own record label and writing an autobiography, which is reportedly under option for a feature film.
