Ellen Ross, a 23-year-old brunette who works for the Pennsylvania government, is Jon Gosselin‘s latest girlfriend.

The couple are seen in the photo above at the Green Turtle bar in Frederick, MD on April 29, where they made their first public appearance together.

According to a close friend of the former “Jon and Kate Plus Eight” star, the two met through a mutual friend and have only been dating for a few weeks.

“They were set up on a date by their friend. They met at a local coffee shop near Reading, Pa., for their first date,” the source says.  “Jon was instantly attracted to her and says she’s sexy, funny, and smart. Ellen’s very down-to-earth and just fun to be around. She’s not a fame seeker and Jon really digs that about her.”

Ross and Gosselin have already become “Facebook official,” posting boyfriend and girlfriend comments to each other on the social networking site.

The exchange began with a post from Ellen declaring, “I without a doubt have THE best boyfriend ever.”

“Thank you babe, you are the best too. <3 u!” Jon commented.

“I think boys should be boyfriends and men should be manfriends.  Just saying! ;-)” reads another of Jon’s comments.

“I guess it would sound better in french ‘J’ai sans aucun doute le meilleur ami jamais. ami=boyfriend’ … Ellen, Amie pendant la vie. N’oubliez pas je t’aime”

“Text me the translation.  No fairrr,” comments Ross.

“Girlfriend for life. Don’t forget I love you!” Gosselin responds.

Several of Ellen’s friends also commented on the post, with my favorites being one from her friend Jimmy which said “still can’t believe you’re dating men again…wild,” and one from Julie that reads “<insert vomit here>”

Julie, I totally agree.
