Matt Lauer, who has been at the Cannes Film Festival this week, finally came forward to address rumors of infidelity and the alleged break-up of his marriage.

The Today Show host kept silent for days following the National Enquirer exclusive that suggested he and Annette Roque had split shortly after he returned from a lengthy coverage stint for NBC at the Vancouver Olympic Games. The tabloid alleges that he partied and engaged in extra-marital activities with a number of women during his three week stay in Canada.

Finally setting the record straight in a telephone interview with People magazine on Friday, Lauer said: “I am living in my apartment with Annette and my children as a family and a couple. I have never moved out. I am not moving out. There is no truth to that. Do we have a completely perfect, easy marriage? No.”

Annette also spoke with the magazine and provided a few quotes of her own. She said, “Out of self respect, I want to stand up for our family and protect them.” She acknowledged past marital difficulties, but said, “We have worked through it.”

The couple have three children and have been married for 12 years. They did separate in 2006 but eventually called off their divorce proceeding and reunited.
