George Clooney skipped the red carpet at the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards Sunday night, but took some time to have fun with the cast of Best Comedy winner Modern Family in a segment where he is romanced by Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara, and ends up in bed with Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet. Host Jimmy Fallon used Twitter for some of his material throughout the show.

Later in the broadcast, former “ER” co-star, Julianna Margulies, presented Clooney with the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award, lauding his fundraising efforts for victims of the Haiti earthquake, the 2004 tsunami in Indonesia and the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Clooney accepted the award with a call to action to “keep the spotlight burning on these heartbreaking situations that continue to be heartbreaking long after the cameras go away.” (See video below)
