Rocker Chris Robinson, lead singer for the Black Crowes, lashed out at Taylor Swift in a recent interview and it wasn’t pretty.
The self-professed “musical snob” is definitely NOT a fan of Swift. He said: “I find it embarrassing that adults are like, ‘Taylor Swift is very talented.’ She’s not. She might be cute, but she’s horrible.”
Working himself up into a pretty good rant, actress Kate Hudson’s ex continued: “They have stylists who dress them, they make records with producers who play a chord into the computer and it all comes out the same. When you have computers doing it all for you, there’s no individuality. Singing isn’t always about being on key; it’s about emotionality.”
Swift has been named the top-selling digital artist in music history with over 28 million digital tracks sold. To date, she has sold over 10 million albums worldwide, earning $45 million in 2010 — these stats according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Robinson is not alone in finding fault with packaged artists. The CMA nominations for 2010 were announced this week, and neither Swift nor Carrie Underwood will be vying for Entertainer of the Year. Taylor won the award in 2009.
The CMA Entertainer of the Year field of nominees for 2010: Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and the Zac Brown Band.
Swift and Underwood were nominated in the Female Vocalist category. Also nominated and poised to duke it out are Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert and Reba McEntire.
