Last year, Lisa Rinna confessed to having silicone injections in her upper lip in 1986,  an impulsive decision that she compares to getting a tattoo.

Now, the 47-year-old admits to People that she underwent surgery to reduce the size of her upper lip on August 26.

“My lips started to define who I am,” Rinna explains. “That bothered me.”

“I took a big hit for being honest. It gave everyone online permission to lambaste me. It hurt my feelings.”

But the Dancing With The Stars alum says this latest procedure is all about her.

“It doesn’t matter what other people think,” she says. “I did it for myself.”

And, while it will be 6 months before she has fully healed, she is pleased with the results.

“It’s a work in progress,” admits Rinna, “but I feel fantastic.”
