Deanna Favre and HIV-positive minister Shane Stanford were guests Thursday on Good Morning America to promote their new book The CURE for the Chronic Life. She is the wife of veteran quarterback Brett Favre and the first question raised by Robin Roberts was about his sexting scandal.

Robin said: “I know this book is very important and you’re here to talk about that but you have also agreed to address these current allegations against your husband Brett. He just met with NFL officials this week. He has said that as a league matter, he will not deny allegations of inappropriate behavior with a female employee when he was with the Jets. What can you share with us this morning about that?”

Deanna replied: “I can tell you that faith…obviously I am a woman of faith….it has got me through many difficult struggles , it will get me through this one. That is the reason Shane and I wrote the book.”

Robin replied: “There are just so many people that care about you, who know you, who just want the best for you. I know your faith is very important but how are you handling this and how are you and Brett together handling this?”

Deanna repeated: “I’m handling this through faith Robin. We were talking earlier about a verse I have on my frig – Isaiah 41: 9-13 is on my frig right now. ‘Don’t be afraid…'” While she did not recite it in its entirety, verse 11 reads: ‘All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced.’
