Miley Cyrus‘ parents Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus are divorcing after a 17-year marriage.

The Achy Breaky Heart singer filed Tuesday in Tennessee, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking shared custody of the couple’s minor children, Miley Ray, 17; Braison, 16; and Noah, 10.

A joint statement from the Cyruses reads, “As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.”
