2010 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony…
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg officially kicked off the holiday season last night by flipping the switch at the annual lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.
More than 30,000 energy-efficient LED lights adorn the 74 foot Norway spruce that was grown in Mahopac, NY. The lights are powered by 364 solar panels. The 1950 tree featured 6,000 shimmering icicle lights.
The iconic Manhattan scene at 30 Rockefeller Plaza will remain illuminated until the week after New Years Day.
