The American Idol Top 6 sang their hearts out last night with two songs each from the Carole King songbook.

The judges were most impressed with the performance of James Durbin, who sang Will You Love Me Tomorrow. They all but anointed him the next Idol, citing his ability to bring solid performances week after week.

Jacob Lusk sang Oh No Not My Baby. The judges all paid him lip service and Tyler was “glad you shook your tail feather.”

Lauren Alaina sang Where You Lead. Jackson called it “safe and boring.” JLo thought she “pushed it” and was proud of her.

Scotty McCreery performed You’ve Got a Friend. This teenage country crooner continues to remind us of the iconic Alfred E. Neuman, Mad magazine’s mascotphoto comparison here.

It was Hi-De-Ho for Casey Abrams. Jennifer all but begged him to “loosen up.” We seriously wish this guy would lose the ‘caveman in a suit’ look.

Haley Reinhart sang Beautiful. Randy thought it started out “a little boring,” a sentiment he has voiced with her week after week. Steven Tyler, who is clearly smitten with this young women, claimed: “I just saw God. I heard God in your voice.”

The six were divided into duos for a second performance. Casey and Haley sang I Feel the Earth Move, Lauren and Scotty joined forces for Up on the Roof, and Jacob and James performed I’m into Something Good.
