The power of words was all it took for one of our favorite comedians, Ross Mathews, to drop some pounds. His good friend, Gwyneth Paltrow, helped spur on the entertainer to take back control of his health.
In a recent People magazine interview, Mathews talked about how Paltrow gave him the push he needed: "We were taping a Chelsea Special and she pointed at my tummy and said, 'What's going on here? I love you. Get it together.'" That was it, that was all the motivation he needed.
Weighing in at 220 lbs., he decided that if his friend Sara Rue could lose 50 lbs. on Jenny Craig, then so could he. Ross became the weight loss and nutrition company's newest spokesperson.
He admits that he made poor food choices before discovering how to eat the right way. Along with healthy eating, Ross also began an exercise program and has reached his goal weight of 180. Mathews says: "The weight was such a shameful issue for me. I'm so happy to be rid of it."
The entire process has brought many changes. He walks now to get his morning coffee fix, has started to do some gardening, and has even gotten his mother to jump on the weight loss bandwagon. She is half way to her goal.
Ross no longer has a problem looking in the mirror, because what he sees looking back at him is someone who is healthy and happy.
