Jackass star Ryan Dunn died early Monday morning in Pennsylvania when his Porsche flipped, crashed and burned. Police initially withheld the identity of his passenger, but have since revealed that it was Zachary Hartwell of West Chester, Pennsylvania.
According to local Pennsylvania news reports, the car careened off the road, flipped over a guardrail and crashed into the woods before bursting into flames. The force of the impact shattered the vehicle into several twisted and blackened pieces, leaving the Porsche 911 GT3 unrecognizable except for a door that was thrown from the crash and not incinerated.
A 100-foot-long tire skid marked where the car left the roadway. The bodies were severely burned. Police were able to identify Dunn through his tattoos and hair. Crash Photos.
Hartwell, 30, was a production assistant for Jackass 2 and a stunt car driver in Bam Margera‘s 2009 film, Minghags. He was a former Navy Gunner’s Mate who served two tours of duty in Iraq. He married his wife Rachel in October 2010.
Margera became enraged after movie critic Roger Ebert played the blame game with a few controversial Twitter missives.

Not only did he kill himself, he murdered his passenger.
Nice move, drunkie.
He didn’t murder his passenger. He willingly got into the car with a “drunkie” Fred.
It is an overwhelming tragedy and they will be missed by so many people… Keep your malicious comments to yourself. Ryan died horrifically, show some respect, for the sake of his friends and family in mourning. Anyone who has the audacity to say anything negative about Ryan deserves to be shot. RIP Ryan Dunn and Zachary Hartwell.
He was a stupid fool. If you drink and drive you shouldn’t be shocked when you end up dead. And his passanger should have had called a cab as well. They were both morans! Just glad they didn’t hit a mini van full of kids. Stupid stupid stupid!
I doubt his family, and friends will be in these forums if so then they would have to know what to expect because of how drunk drivers, who take a life, are view in general. Also like it or not he was drunk, and he did kill his friend at 130+ miles per hour at twice the legal alcohol limit. If you do not like the comments, and you find them hurtful, then maybe you should not read them.
Sorry jackass fans but it was a total jackass move.
Ryan Dunn murdered that guy.
He dies how he lived, with a car rammed up his ass. The world is a better place now that he is off the road.
fred, he wasnt even drunk when he left the bar. plus im really thinking this is a hoax now, i mean look at the size of those tire tracks and look at tyhe police car to scale, those tracks are from a pickup truck or something.
@ Paul “look at the size of those tire tracks and look at the police car to scale, those tracks are from a pickup truck or something.”
Or a Porsche skidding on a sideways angle…..”he wasn’t even drunk when he left the bar”…now that’s the only hoax.
wow…i cant believe that people on here are happy that he died, yeah he might have made a stupid move but he was drunk and didnt know what he was doing. Have some respect for them and thier family
now with the tracks…the ones on the right are made by ryans porsche
the ones on the left are made by other cars stoping because thy saw the accident and are the people who probably called 911. I live about 10 min away from the scene and i was there yesterday to pay my respects and to see what happened…. you cant imagine it unless you stop by.
RIP Ryan Dunn and Zachary Hartwell
and paul….if you actually go to the scene then you would actually see that the tracks are smaller then normal car tracks
Boo hoo, some rich A-hole in his Porsche crashed and died. These guys are worthless / brainless jerks and we are all richer as a species for having one less around to pollute the gene pool. If you defend these types of people you need to take a serious look at your life.
