The possibility of becoming parents outweighs the sadness and tough times that former Apprentice winner Bill Rancic and his wife Giuliana have encountered with failed attempts at in vitro fertilization.  They have decided to give IVF one more try.

This will be the third procedure.  The first try ended in miscarriage and the second did not produce a baby.  Their doctor remains optimistic that Giuliana can achieve a successful pregnancy.

Their fallback plan is adoption according to Giuliana:  “When we were in Italy recently I felt very connected to Naples, where I’m from. We thought it would be really wonderful to be able to adopt a child from where I’m from and give a child there some opportunity.”

After mentioning the possibility of a foreign adoption on Twitter, she got some negative responses: “I got some tweets … of people saying, ‘You should adopt from America’ and ‘A lot of kids need help’ and of course that’s true, but you know what? How can you tell a woman where she should adopt from?  You’ve got to follow your heart. So if it’s a foreign country, if it’s in your backyard … A child is a child.”

The stresses of trying unsuccessfully to have a child caused them to step back and take a breather: “Right now we’re doing a year of fun — we just needed time off.  You’ve got to look at the positive.”
