Queen’s granddaughter weds a rugby player …

Zara Phillips, the second child and only daughter of Princess Anne, married rugby player Mike Tindall in Canongate Kirk Edinburgh, Scotland on July 30, 2011.

Phillips, the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was escorted to the church by her father, Captain Mark Phillips, who divorced Princess Anne after 19 years of marriage in 1992.

Zara met Tindall in 2003 during a sporting event and announced their engagement on December 21, 2010. The accomplished equestrian and her new husband have a home in Gloucestershire. She has opted to keep her maiden name.

Attending the ceremony besides her parents and grandparents were a host of Royal aunts, uncles and cousins: Prince Harry, Prince William, Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice, Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Edward, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and the newest royal … Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

The press had a field day with the fact that Prince William’s new bride wore a coat dress that she famously wore in 2006 to the wedding Laura Parker Bowles, daughter of her new mother-in-law Camilla — check out the side by side comparison in the gallery.
