Mick Jagger has pulled together a group of talented performers who collaborated on an album titled SuperHeavy, featuring reggae, ballads and Indian genre.

The group is comprised of Jagger, Joss Stone, Damian Marley, Dave Stewart and A.R. Rahman. There is also a rhythm section featuring bassist Shiah Coore, drummer Courtney Diedrick and rock violinist Ann Marie Calhoun.

Coming up with the concept was Dave Stewart, who urged Mick to fuse their sound with that of Indian orchestrations. The project kicked off in 2009 and culminated with a preview of the album at Jim Henson Studios in L.A. at the end of June 2011.

Jagger said of the band, “We wanted a convergence of different musical styles…We were always overlapping styles, be they were nevertheless separate.”

Reviews have been mixed but Jagger is counting on the sum total becoming greater than the individual parts.

We’ve included the music video for the first single Miracle Worker. It has logged over 2 million YouTube hits so far, which seems to suggest that people are definitely curious. Are you?
