Griffin O’Neal was sentenced on Friday in San Diego County Superior Court to 16 months in state prison after being convicted of two felonies; DUI and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The August 2011 charges are related to an accident where Griffin hit another car, injuring the driver.  He was under the influence and had a gun in the car.

During the hearing it was reported by O’Neal’s lawyer that his client had fallen off the wagon after five years of sobriety.  He did a stint in rehab following the accident and was arrested again last month on a domestic battery charge.  The newest case has not yet gone before a judge.

O’Neal is the 47-year-old son of actor Ryan O’Neal. The family, including siblings Redmond O’Neal and Tatem O’Neal, have a long history of addiction issues and arrests.  Redmond’s mother is the late Farrah Fawcett.
