Disco legend Donna Summer, born LaDonna Adrian Gaines, died this morning in Florida after a battle with cancer.
Sources close to Summer tell TMZ that the singer was trying to keep the extent of her illness under wraps, and was focused on trying to finish an album she had been working on.
During her 40 year career, Summer won five Grammy Awards and six American Music Awards.
No further details are available at this time. Summer is survived by her husband, three daughters, and four grandchildren.
