Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore shared a long and emotional embrace at the InterContinental Hotel in Beverly Hills that could pave the way toward a reconciliation.

The couple arrived separately to celebrate the 40th birthday for Kaballah Rabbi Yehuda Berg, the man who officiated at their wedding.

When Demi arrived she greeted the guest of honor warmly before sharing a long embrace with her estranged husband, who happened to be standing nearby. According to an attendee, the exchange lasted 60-seconds and appeared to be highly-charged with emotion.

Later in the evening Kutcher was reduced to tears while giving a speech to honor his friend: “If Yehuda is your friend, he’ll love you unconditionally, no matter what mistakes you’ve made.”

With his voice breaking he continued, “I’ve made all these horrendous mistakes in the last year.” Then he sat down to a round of applause.
