The newly-released “Celebrate” music video turned out to be a blended recording of Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks because the duo never got a chance to record the track together during the making of their upcoming film “Sparkle.”

According to Sparks, “I would have loved to be in the studio with her, but with Whitney’s schedule it got so crazy we never found the time to get together, so we recorded it separately.”

Sparks has fond memories of Whitney: “She was so cool and very motherly toward me. If I ever looked like I needed something, here she came saying ‘Are you okay?’”

The film, set to hit theaters on Aug. 17, also features Derek Luke, Mike Epps, Carmen Ejogo and Cee Lo Green.

The original motion picture soundtrack “Sparkle” will drop on July 31.
