Team USA made it look easy when they beat out the rest of the London Olympic gymnastics field to take home the gold.

The “Fab 5″ scored 183.596, handily earning the top berth on the podium by an amazing five points ahead of Russia, who took silver.  Romania finished third for bronze.

Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, Jordyn Wieber, McKayla Maroney and Kyla Ross screamed, cheered, cried and thrust their index fingers in the air as the crowd chanted U-S-A! U-S-A!

Coming up on Thursday is the Women’s Gymnastics Individual All-Around.  Qualifiers from Team USA are Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman.

After hours of interviews the girls have finally returned to their Olympic Village dorm for the night.  Here is what they tweeted:

Katie Couric is dating financier John Molner, head of mergers and acquisitions at investment bank and securities firm Brown Brothers Harriman in New York.

Seven months after splitting with her boyfriend of five years, Brooks Perlin, who is 17 years her junior, Couric, 55, made her first public appearance with Molner, 49, at Saturday’s Ellen Hermanson Breast Cancer Benefit.

“Katie looked better than ever and, clearly in love, did her best to keep her relationship with John low-key. She was careful not to be photographed with him, but they were clearly together. They looked good together and other guests remarked that he seemed a more age-appropriate match,” a guest tells Page Six.

Another witness says Couric and Molner were “kissing in the driveway before driving away together.”

According to sources, the two began dating a few months ago after being introduced by friends and are “very happy together.”

Couric’s new talk show, Katie, premieres September 10.

Good news on the OWN front.  The network that Oprah Winfrey started on January 1, 2011 should become profitable during the back-half of 2013 according to her Discovery partner, CEO David Zaslav.

During this week’s earnings conference between Harpo Productions and Discovery, it was revealed that ratings are up 25 percent year-to-date.

The core audience is comprised of women 25-54 who hang on O’s every word.  Viewers are getting more face time with the network founder as she continues to crank out a series of high-profile interviews for her popular series ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter.’

Winfrey’s third most viewed interview since OWN first hit the airwaves is the recent two-part Kardashian family chat.

The good news is that billionaire O has deep pockets and can withstand operating in the red for another year.

U.S. Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte hit Twitter Monday after finishing a disappointing fourth in the men’s 200m freestyle to chat with his followers.

Lochte tweeted, “Not so happy about that swim tonight… you live and learn.  Tomorrow I will be better.”

He added two hours later, “The greatest athletes suffer the hardest defeats before the biggest and best moments of their life…. God has a plan for everyone.”

Then he offered up a few cryptic tweets after warning, “I’m going to take a ten minute Olympic break to tweet some weird tweets to u all.  Just different.”

The last two tweets are snippets taken from the ‘Fire Flame Remix’ by Birdman featuring Lil Wayne.

He told a reporter this morning, “Whatever happened last night, happened last night.  You have to get over it and move on.  I have a couple more races left.  Just have to forget about it and move on.”

His next swim is the men’s 4×200-meter relay later today.  Wednesday he and Michael Phelps will compete in the prelim and semifinal heats in the 200m individual medley.  That final is Thursday night.

Lochte tweeted Tuesday morning, “Ready to take it on today.  Let’s get it. #TeamUSA.”
