Jennifer Lopez did an ABC interview on Sunday in Montreal with Amy Robach and revealed the real reason she decided not to return for season twelve of ‘American Idol.’

It turns out that she couldn’t see herself continuing as a judge after Steven Tyler announced that he was going back to his “first mistress” — Aerosmith.

Less than 24 hours after Tyler announced his decision to quit, J-Lo told the press that she wanted to get back to her career too… but that was only part of the story.

Lopez told Robach, “We had magic. I don’t know, with him gone, it might be a different formula.”

That said, Amy wanted to know who she thought might be on the ‘AI’ short list. She was quick to reply: “I think like Bono, Bon Jovi or Mick Jagger. You know me, I think big.”

Rumors suggest that Mariah Carey has been negotiating a possible deal. When her husband Nick Cannon was asked about it, he quipped: “Are you kidding me? ‘American Idol’ can’t afford Mariah Carey.”

Does ‘Idol’ really need a diva?
