Show snubbed but host gets Emmy nod …

Last year ‘American Idol’ received an Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Reality Competition category but they were snubbed this year after what turned out to be a lackluster season.

It looks like the FOX network and ‘Idol’ execs were on the right track when they decided it was time to retool the long-running show that has started to sag in viewer ratings.

Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler were allowed to spin their departure from the judges panel but reports suggest they were pressured to step down in order to make room for some fresh talent and a few format changes.

J-Lo raised a few eyebrows when she reminisced about her on-air interaction with the Aerosmith rocker in a decidedly wistful tone, “We had magic.” Apparently the Emmy nominating committee didn’t pick up on that vibe.

One familiar ‘AI’ face returning for season twelve is show host Ryan Seacrest, who re-signed in April for two more years.

By the way, the modern day version of Dick Clark received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Host for a Reality Competition Program.

We’ve included the list of those who made the Emmy cut:
