'Modern Family' star Ariel Winter, 14, has taken out a restraining order against her mother Chris Workman, and moved in with her sister.
The young actress is claiming that her mother subjected her to ongoing physical abuse described as slapping, hitting, pushing, and extreme emotional abuse for an extended period of time.
Paperwork was filed on Oct. 3 in Los Angeles and a judge granted Ariel's 34-year-old sister Shanelle Gray temporary guardianship. Workman has been ordered not to contact her child until further notice.
The mother told PEOPLE, "It's all untrue, it's all untrue. I have my doctor's letter that my daughter has never been abused. I have stylists' letters that she has never been abused."
This isn't the first time that Workman has had her children taken away. Two decades ago Shanelle went through the same issues and the Department of Children and Family Services removed her from the home and placed her in foster care for two years. Shanelle never returned to live with her mother.
A follow up court date is slated for Nov. 20.
