President Barack Obama was named Time magazine‘s ’2012 Person of the Year,’ the second time during his tenure as Commander in Chief.

Time said, “In a year of historic cultural and demographic changes, Obama found and forged a new majority, turned the weakness into opportunity and sought, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union.  Obama is both the symbol and in some ways the architect of this new America.”

Also in the running for this year’s honors were Malala Yousafzai, Mohammed Morsi, Fabiola Gianotti, Tim Cook and Bill and Hillary Clinton.
