Clara Ann Fowler aka Patti Page 1927-2013
Legendary traditional pop-country singer Patti Page died on New Year’s Day in Encinitas, California at the age of 85.
The popular entertainer charted 80 singles during her six decade musical career that began in 1946, including fan favorite ‘Tennessee Waltz,’ recorded in 1950.
Despite the rise of rock and roll music during the second half of the 50′s, Page was one of the few pop singers of her time who was able to sustain her success with 60′s hits ‘Old Cape Cod,’ ‘Allegheny Moon’ and ‘Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte.’
Patti was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 1997 and will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award on Feb. 10, 2013.
The singer was preceded in death by her third husband Jerry Filiciotto, who died in 2009. Page is survived by a son and daughter who were adopted during her twelve year union with second husband, choreographer Charles O’Curran. The couple divorced in 1972.
