The Steven Speilberg directed blockbuster ‘Lincoln’ picked up a dozen nods Thursday morning when the 85th Annual Academy Award nominations were announced in Beverly Hills.

The film harkening back to the Civil War presidency of Abraham Lincoln was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor Daniel Day-Lewis, Best Supporting Actor Tommy Lee Jones, Best Supporting Actress Sally Field, Best Writing – Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing and Best Sound Mixing.

‘Les Miserables’ picked up an impressive number of nominations that include Best Picture, Best Actor for Hugh Jackman and Best Supporting Actress for Anne Hathaway.

The lead actress category carries some heavy hitters, including Jessica Chastain, whose portrayal in ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ is being hailed as the best of the field.

The Oscars will air live on ABC Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at the Dolby Theatre in the Hollywood.
