This has been a big week for Britney Spears. First she announced that she wouldn't be returning to 'The X Factor' and now it has been confirmed that she and fiance Jason Trawick have split.
Britney's rep Jeff Raymond said, "Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have mutually agreed to end their one-year engagement. As two mature adults, they came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways while continuing to remain friends."
Spears also made a statement to PEOPLE, "Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."
Jason said, "As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever."
The split shouldn't get too messy since they have always kept their finances separate. Spears recently purchased a home for $8.5 million in Thousand Oaks as sole owner. He has reportedly also been removed as her co-conservator. The duty of managing her empire will be resumed fully by her father Jamie Spears.
Britney and Jason began dating in 2009 and got engaged on his 40th birthday in December 2011. Sources close to the couple said that Britney wanted to have more children and he was not interested in adding more kids to their situation through he reportedly gets along well with her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, born during her marriage to Kevin Federline.
Spears is reportedly in talks for a "big, nightly show" in Las Vegas, similar to the type previously undertaken by Celine Dion, Bette Midler and Cher.
