DJ and record producer Mark Kamins suffered a massive coronary and died in Guadalajara, Mexico on Thursday. The 57-year-old is credited with jump starting the career of music icon Madonna.
The 'Material Girl' issued this statement: "I'm very sorry to hear about Mark's death. I haven't seen him for years but if it weren't for him, I might not have had a singing career. He was the first DJ to play my demos before I had a record deal. He believed in me before anyone else did. I owe him a lot. May he Rest in Peace."
It all started back in 1982 when Madonna urged DJ Mark Kamins, who played at her dance club, to play her demo 'Everybody.' He took her to Sire Records, who signed her for a two-song deal. A grateful Madge took him as one of her early lovers.
