Remember the 2005 reality show 'The Swan,' that promised to transform "ugly ducklings" into swans with extensive plastic surgery? Former contestant Lorrie Arias claims the show ruined her life.
Arias told the The New York Post that after spending $300,000 on transforming procedures, she now suffers from bipolar disorder, lupus, depression and is a prisoner to her own home.
Lorrie revealed, “I am agoraphobic, on medication and unable to enjoy life. I had the most surgeries of any Swan in the history of the show and it has all gone to absolute sh-t."
She cites the lack of follow-up treatment from show therapists for her current state, “I am a 300-pound mess of a person who is afraid to go outside.”
How are the other contestants on the show dealing with their changes? The Post did a little research and found that all but two of them are divorces and or widowed.
Season 1 winner Rachel Love said, “Some of the girls have had problems with their surgeries, and I would have thought the producers would have helped a little more with that, but what can you expect from them? Reality shows aren’t there to guide you for the rest of your life.” She also added that some of the women are just "crybabies."
'The Swan' is planning to feature a two-hour celebrity special this summer. Rumored to be going under the knife are former Clinton White House intern Monica Lewinsky and 'Happy Days' star Erin Moran.
