Kelly Preston will give television another whirl as the lead character in the ABC family comedy pilot 'Keep Calm and Karey On.'
The actress, 50, will co-star with Jane Seymour, of 'Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman' fame. The interesting thing about that is the fact that Seymour, 62, has been cast as her sitcom mother Dotty.
The network thinks Kelly can pull off a younger vibe and we have to say they're probably right.
The premise of the single-camera comedy has Karey (Preston) portraying a vibrant mother of three adopted kids -- including two kids left homeless after her brother was sent to prison.
Her character, who grew up in a family of petty thieves, drug addicts and narcissists, is overwhelmed by the prospect of being a good parent to kids with issues.
Portraying Karey's self-centered sister is 'Men of a Certain Age' actress Majandra Delfino.
Like all pilots, it will be up to ABC to order additional episodes or nix the entire project.
Fun Fact: Preston was briefly engaged to Charlie Sheen in 1990. The following year she wed John Travolta.
The couple have two living children: Ella Blue, 12, and Benjamin, 2. Son Jett died of a seizure in 2009 at the age of 16.
