St. James Palace in London reported this morning that Prince Harry will be returning to the United States in May for an official visit that will not include Las Vegas.
The 28-year-old royal will begin an extended visit on May 9, traveling to Colorado, Washington, D.C., and New York. He’ll also tour the Hurricane Sandy ravaged areas of the Jersey Shore and take part in a polo match for charity in Greenwich, Connecticut on May 15.
During a planned stop in Colorado Springs, he will attend the Warrior Games between servicemen and women. Harry’s private secretary said, “He is a soldiers’ soldier and will bring a spotlight on what’s being done to help these outstanding men and women.”
In D.C., the prince will visit Arlington National Cemetery and Walter Reed National Medical Center.
During his last visit to the U.S., Harry was photographed nude while engaged in a strip billiards game with friends in his Las Vegas hotel suite. He headed back to Britain where he suffered a royal tongue lashing followed soon after by a military deployment to Afghanistan, where he served as an Apache co-pilot gunner.
After the scandal, Prince Harry acknowledged that he was probably being “too much Army and not enough prince.” He continued, “At the end of the day I let myself down, I let my family down and let other people down, but I was in a private area and there should have been a certain amount of privacy that one should expect.”
