First lady Michelle Obama and her children joined U2 frontman Bono and his family for lunch Tuesday at a traditional Irish pub.

In addition to his successful career in music, rocker Paul David Hewson is a venture capitalist and humanitarian.

Accompanying the musician for a fish and chips lunch date at Finnegan’s Pub in Dalkey were his wife Ali Hewson and their two youngest children, sons Elijah, 13, and John, 11.

Bono and his family arrived just before 1:00 p.m. Eyeing the gathering crowd, the U2 musician joked, “I thought this was a secret.”

A fleet of black armored vehicles arrived outside the pub twenty minutes later, carrying Mrs. Obama, and her daughters. Sasha Obama turned 12 last week and her sister Malia Obama will celebrate her 15th birthday on July 4.

While the majority of the Obama family dined with Irish royalty, Barack Obama was attending the 39th G8 Summit at the Lorgh Erne Resort in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.

We’ve included a photo of the First Family posing in a garden area on the White House lawn:
