Former TODAY show co-anchor Meredith Vieira will executive produce and host her own talk show beginning in September 2014.
NBC Universal will roll out 'The Meredith Vieira Show' from New York City on a set that will replicate Meredith's actual home -- right down to the furniture and family photos.
Ted Harbert, NBC Broadcasting Chairman, confirmed the news: "All of us at NBCU are so excited about this new show with Meredith. She creates an instant connection with audiences with her smart, quick-witted and down-to-earth style."
"This entertaining and substantive show will be a great way to reach her loyal daytime fans as well as new ones who will discover why Meredith is one of America's most loved television personalities."
The popular former co-host of the TODAY Show departed in 2011, throwing NBC's once stellar ratings into a steady decline that resulted in a shake up that left journalist Ann Curry out in the cold and cast a huge shadow on the career of Matt Lauer.
Meredith's new show will feature a typical mix of celebrities and human-interest segments. She believes her previous stints on '60 Minutes,' 'The View,' 'TODAY,' and 'Millionaire' have molded her outlook on life.
She acknowledges, "All of my past experiences share one common denominator ... this fundamental need we have to connect with and find inspiration in each other."
Vieira wed former CBS News journalist Richard M. Cohen in 1986. They reside in Irvington, Westchester County, New York. Their three children, who are attending college, range in age from 24-20.
The couple have been decidedly candid in sharing his up and down struggles with multiple sclerosis. She cited his illness as one of the reasons she decided to leave TODAY two years ago.
