Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, has entered into a dating relationship with Adrian Fenty, a former mayor of Washington D.C.
Powell Jobs, 49, inherited an estate worth $10 billion in 2011 when her husband died of cancer. Suffice it to say, she is now one of the richest women in America thanks to her Apple and Disney stock holdings. She has three children ranging from age 21-15.
Her 42-year-old love interest served the District of Columbia from 2007 to 2011 before heading to Silicon Valley to do consulting work.
Laurene met Adrian at a Houston education conference in 2011 and reportedly bonded over a shared passion for school reform. In February 2012 she offered him a board membership with College Track, a non-profit college prep program for underserved students co-founded by Powell Jobs.
She announced his appointment with this statement, "Adrian Fenty is one of our country's greatest advocates for education reform. His sense of urgency and record of accomplishment is unparalleled."
Fenty and his D.C. lawyer wife Michelle Cross split in early 2013, with a divorce now close to completion. She and the couple's three children, ages 13-5, have moved to Trinidad and Tobago where she is working with the Inter-American Bank.
According to the Washington Post, "The relationship between Fenty and Jobs' widow began as a friendship and blossomed into a budding romance around the time that Adrian and his wife announced their separation in January."
