Although they have been coy in the past about a possible reunion, the members of NSync, including Justin Timberlake, have apparently agreed to at least one performance together. Timberlake is reportedly gearing up to reunite with former bandmates, J.C. Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick at the MTV VMAs Sunday night.

MTV intern Brett S. Vergara, posted the news this morning on Twitter, and although he has since deleted the tweet, he is still confirming the rumors on Twitter when asked if it’s true.

A source told Us Magazine that producers are “trying to make it happen” and that the reunion is “coming together.”

NSync split up in 2002, and last performed together in 2004 at the Annual Challenge for Children. Their last televised performance was at the Grammy Awards in 2003 during a Bee Gees tribute.

Timberlake will be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award Sunday at the VMAs, and according to multiple news outlets, he will be joined on stage by his former bandmates for a special performance.

Timberlake seemingly shunned his former NSync bandmates by famously not inviting them to his 2011 wedding to Jessica Biel, and although other boy bands — Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, and New Kids on the Block have all reunited, Chasez said in an interview last year that an NSync reunion was “not in the cards.”

“We’re happy with what it was and we’re happy to move on,” said Chasez.

The VMAs air Sunday night from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn at 9pm ET on MTV. Scheduled performances include Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Robin Thicke, and (here’s to hoping) NSync.
