A death investigation continues in an effort to shed light on what caused the sudden death of Lisa Robin Kelly while she was a patient at a Los Angeles rehab facility.
The L.A. County Sheriff's office and the L.A. County Coroner's office want to know why the staff doctor failed to notify them of an in-patient death.
Officials claim the L.A. County Coroner never received a death notification from the doctor who pronounced the actress dead at 8:07 a.m. Thursday. It turns out that the Coroner's Office found out when someone read about it on TMZ four hours later.
That wasn't the only red flag in the case. Reports indicate the rehab doctor stated with conviction that Kelly died from an embolism. The Coroner's Office scoffed at the suggestions because that conclusion would be mere speculation without performing an autopsy.
The attending rehab doctor acknowledged that Kelly had been given detox drugs. The role those drugs may have played in her death will not be known until the toxicology tests are completed.
The L.A. County Sheriff has issues a security hold on this case, thus preventing the release of further information while investigators continue to gather evidence.
