MTV’s newly-anointed 2013 Artist to Watch Austin Mahone has cancelled his sold out tour due to illness.

The 17-year-old phenom, who has previously appeared on tour with Taylor Swift, landed in the hospital Thursday morning — hours before he was slated to travel to his first tour venue.

He got his start as a YouTube sensation in 2011. He has since launched a pop singing career that appears to be closely channeling a certain Canadian teen icon. The press has dubbed him “the second coming of Justin Bieber.”

Mahone posted an Instagram selfie that he captioned, “It’s Doctor’s orders. I have a bad flu 103 fever and I can’t move. If I could go I would. I can’t believe this is happening its my first tour I’m so upset. I feel like I’m letting you all down.”

Initially Austin’s camp postponed the first two gigs slated for Miami and Orlando but have since slashed the entire 10-city tour schedule.

His rep issued this statement: “Due to illness, Austin Mahone will unfortunately have to postpone his sold out MTV Artist to Watch Presents Tour until 2014. The singer, who fell ill earlier this week is now on strict Dr.’s orders to stay on rest and will need to reschedule all dates on the tour.”

Mahone gushed on social media recently that he had been in rehearsals for a few weeks, adding more songs, dancers, lasers, lights and smoke to turn it into a full blown production.
