Jennifer Hudson showed off a new look Sunday at the BET Black Girls Rock event held in the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

The Academy Award-winning actress and singer hit the red carpet while rocking a sexy little black dress and a decidedly-short new hairdo.

Before attending the high profile awards shows, the 32-year-old ‘Dreamgirls’ celeb hit Twitter to share a collage of images that she captioned, “Black Girls Rock! Yep, catch it! You’ve been jenniferized…catch it!!”

Black Girls Rock! was created in 2006 as a way to promote positive images of women of color. The 2013 ceremony was the eighth production and the fourth to be broadcast on television. BET Networks will air Sunday night’s show on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.

The event honored Queen Latifah. She told the crowd, “The name says it all. Black girls do rock. We need to own that, to live it. I’m happy the event is happening in Newark. I was born here, and I always try to come home, to let everyone know in Newark, Irvington, East Orange, Jersey City, that we can dream, and we can make those dreams reality.”
